Migration Collection

What inspired this collection?

  • This collection was directly inspired by quilts and folk art. The birds in quits have been capturing my attention especially thinking about bird migration that is currently happening.

  • I create all of my own designs. They start as sketches in my sketchbook that turn into exact bead count drawings on graph paper. Then they are hand woven, not on a loom, which is a timely process but the end result is worth it.

  • My brain works in collections. My creative heart (and mind) crave a cohesive body of work. This may be my learning from art school, or just how my creative little soul works. Either way, nothing feels more complete to me than a cohesive body of work.

My time an energy on my designs is more for creating art rather than making money. Don’t get me wrong, I need to pay my bills, but I believe my heart needs this work to exist in the world even if no one buys it. I think think art needs to be created to exist in the world without the pressure of “will it sell?”

  • My work is priced based the cost of materials and time to make the handcrafted item.
